One of my clients worked for a highly sought-after design firm for about ten
years. While she wasn’t unhappy, she had a strong desire to start her own
Business.
She felt conflicted about leaving her position at the design firm, but she
yearned to establish a full-service design business in the area where she grew
up and had spent most of her life. She knew that the journey ahead would be
Challenging.
Once she got started, she quickly realized just how much was required to be
her own boss. With countless choices and decisions to make, she wanted
everything to be perfect, given her expertise as a designer.
It would have been easy for her to become overwhelmed by decision fatigue,
but she persevered. Approximately 18 months after launching her business,
she began to see it thrive.
Initially, she excelled in space planning, furniture selection, finishes, and
accessories, focusing primarily on these areas throughout her career. To grow
her business and ensure its financial sustainability, she recognized the need
to take on larger remodeling projects, which required more education in
construction to boost her confidence for the next steps.
In addition to our weekly coaching sessions that pushed her forward, she
took the initiative to educate herself in areas where she felt less proficient.
While working, she accepted challenging jobs that expanded her skills, and
she continues to pursue education daily to build her confidence and you can to!
